Welcome to the Riverside Primary School website.
'we learn to live and live to learn'
We hope that you find the information contained on our school web site both helpful and informative. We hope too that it gives an exciting picture of our school life.
Successful education has always had at its root a good three way partnership of pupil, teacher and parent. We share your aspirations for your child and aim to work with you in providing a secure, happy and stimulating environment in which the children will be encouraged to learn and in which they will be well prepared for the future.
We are proud of the dedicated and enthusiastic staff who will teach your child and offer the commitment that, together, we will achieve real success for those placed in our care.
The school opened in 1976 as a junior school. In 1984 it amalgamated with the local infant school to become Riverside Community Primary School. It has a staff of Headteacher, 15 full time equivalent teaching staff, 9 class based teaching assistants, 6 teaching assistants dedicated to children with special educational needs and 3 Higher Learning Teaching Assistants. There are eight junior classes, six infant classes and a nursery which offers caters for up to 26 children per session. Nursery sessions are 3 hours in length and can be taken mornings, afternoons, or if parents opt for our Lunch Club, provision is avaliable for full-day care. The school also operates its own before and after-school club called 'The Play Place.'
Currently there are 443 children on our school roll.
Although the majority of the children at Riverside live in Tadcaster itself the school serves the villages of Stutton, Towton and Newton Kyme.
We are part of a network of schools known as the STAR Learning Alliance (Sherburn, Tadcaster and Rural). Our schools are inter-linked in many ways, to the benefit of all of our pupils through sports fixtures, curriculum opportunities, teacher development, special events....the list is endless!
