Within the STAR Multi Academy Trust, each school has a Local Governing Board (LGB) that supports the work of the Trust and the school. It has certain delegated authority to oversee the running of the school under the Scheme of Delegation as defined by the Trust Board of the STAR Multi-Academy Trust. The Register of Business Interests is available via the Trust Board website click here
Minutes of the LGB for each school are available on request from the School Office or email@example.com
Our LGB reports into the STAR MAT's board of trustees. Full details of the STAR MAT's governance structure can be found here.
About our Local Governing Body (LGB)
Our governors are all volunteers. They work to support and challenge the school's leadership team.
All governors are equal voting members regardless of the category of governor or the manner of their appointment.
Our chair of governors can be contacted via the school office in the first instance. Email firstname.lastname@example.org and mark for the attention of Mrs Carolyn Walker.
If you are interested in joining our governing body please contact the chair of governors via the school office in the same way.
What do governors do?
Our governing board provides strategic leadership and accountability in school. It has three key functions:
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
- Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
Meet the Governors
I have been a governor at Riverside school since 2015, and have held vice-chair and chair positions on the Local Governing Board (LGB).
I have had involvement in numerous activities during my time on the LGB - for example supporting Riverside when the STARMAT was created and through two Ofsted inspections; I was also involved in the appointment of the Headteacher in 2022. My term of office has recently been extended by a further period, to 2027.
My background is in Human Resources, and I am currently working on a Transformation Programme in Higher Education.
Many of you know me as a local business owner, however, I also have two gorgeous boys who attend Riverside School!
In a previous life I was a Social Worker in America and I primarily worked with and alongside individuals with disabilities.
Diversity and inclusion are something I am extremely passionate about, as well as community outreach!
I am truly honoured to be one of the representatives for the parents of Riverside and their children!
I have taught across the key stages and found my niche in Early Years. I am now Early Years Leader and Assistant Headteacher.
I am working with the EYFS Team to create a new Early Years unit with a shared provision across the 3 classroom and outdoor areas to enhance the learning environment and experiences for all our little learners.
I am delighted to be a staff governor at Riverside and want to help support in the development of our school as we move forwards.
I am Victoria Maycock. I am a qualified accountant with over 10 years experience.
Throughout my career I have gained valuable experience and skills that I hope to be able to share with Riverside School.
